Team London - Greater London Authority
Now in its fourth year since the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Ambassadors are London’s ‘friendly face’, on hand to answer questions from tourists and Londoners alike and helping to show the world the very best that London has to offer, during the six busiest weeks of the summer.
For the 2nd year running, Get Scheduled was chosen to be the provider of the scheduling and volunteer online shift booking tool.
At the beginning of 2015, Team London needed to recruit and train over 550 volunteers as Team London Ambassadors and Ambassador Managers. Due to the success of past Team London Ambassador Programmes and the retention of volunteers, it was only necessary to recruit just 150 new volunteer Ambassadors, with over 400 re-registering from previous years.
New Team London Ambassadors registered their interest via an application form on the Team London website which linked directly into the Get Scheduled system and captured their details.
Past Team London Ambassadors information was already available inside the Get Scheduled system.
When these London Ambassadors registered again, there was a seamless experience and they were able to access the online booking portal to book their preferred shifts.
Over 3,500 shifts to be filled and over 15,000 hours to be covered at 9 locations across London, Team London required a system that would assist in planning, managing and monitoring volunteers.
London has recently been crowned the best city in Europe for volunteering. London scooped the title European Volunteering Capital 2016 in recognition of the innovative programmes the Mayor Boris Johnson has developed as a legacy of London 2012, when volunteering took centre stage at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Since then, the Mayor’s volunteering initiative Team London has mobilised over 120,000 active volunteers including 60,000 school children and young people.
